Miraculous moments are often found in the quiet light of a campfire. When the paths of self-destruction are cut short by the Holy Spirit’s grace and righteousness, it’s as if the ember glow and dancing flames are actively thawing our hearts—melting us into a posture of joyful surrender.
A Summer of Encounters
Moments like these were experienced by many of the 7,500 retreatants and campers that visited Forest Glen this summer. They escaped from routine and devices to encounter God while immersed in His creation.
Our partnering churches shared of multiple salvations that took place in the lives of their students while at camp. Faith was strengthened, friendships were forged, and campers felt safe in this environment—allowing them to find freedom from isolation and discouragement.
Serving with Hands, Head, and Heart
Our team, gathered from around the world, served with their hands, head, and heart as the light of the world:
- Kitchen staff provided delicious, warm meals in a comfortable environment, bringing joy and contentment throughout an active day.
- Facilities and housekeeping staff seamlessly erased distractions, allowing for true rest and intentional conversations.
- Office and administration team set the table with upfront service, communicating needs to other departments and providing peace to burdened group leaders and parents.
- Hosts stepped in as any need arose among retreat groups, no matter the task.
- Program and activities staff created a safe, exciting environment while teaching about the truth of God’s Word.
Stewarding Trust
We do not take lightly the trust that parents and church leaders place in us as we serve their children and church body. We cherish the opportunity to keep them safe and provide an environment where they can encounter God.
The tragedy that took place this summer in Kerr County has weighed heavy on all our hearts and has led us to seek out our own risk assessment. Thankfully:
- We are not located in a floodplain.
- Our lake ends at a dam and is not sourced by a river or stream.
Looking Ahead
The state of Texas recently passed two bills that may require us to install fiber optic internet. This installation may prove to be very costly.
Camps across Texas are petitioning for sensible amendments to these new laws, hoping to receive grants or government funding to help aid. We understand and sympathize with the purpose of these laws and desire to keep all our guests, campers, and staff safe.
If you find the Lord calling you to help us raise these funds, you can do so at:
