Leaps of Faith, Summer Staff, and the Journey Ahead
So, here you are—standing 20 feet in the air on a platform hardly wide enough for both of your feet. It’s true what they say; it looks higher when you’re up here. The staff member belaying is offering affirmations, but all you can focus on is how you can’t stop your knees—or the pole beneath you—from shaking. You’re fighting the temptation to reach for the rope fastened to the back of your harness, as sweat drips into your eyes.
The trapeze is suspended upward and outward from where you stand. Challenge by Choice. You chose to accept this challenge, and now… you can conquer it.
Look up. Dry your palms. Take a breath.
“3, 2, 1... JUMPING!”
The Leap of Faith: More Than Just a Jump
The Leap of Faith is one of the most exciting activities at the Forest Glen challenge course. Many assume the goal is to catch the trapeze, but the true goal is something deeper: to overcome what challenges you most. More often than not, the biggest challenge is the jump itself—the trust in the equipment, the trust in the belayer, and the courage to step outside your comfort zone. This is exactly what our new team of Summer Staff is taking on right now. Staff Training just wrapped up, and we’re up and running—serving retreat groups and campers every day. During training, our Summer Staff were pushed beyond what they thought they were capable of. They’ve learned how to save lives, how to overcome fears, how to push past exhaustion, and how to trust one another.
They’ve also learned how to share their faith in Jesus Christ. This faithful team of young overcomers is now stepping into their mission: to provide an environment where people can encounter God in a personal and powerful way.
Crafted for Purpose
In Ephesians 2:10, Paul writes:
“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
We are all fine-crafted with a purpose. The team at Forest Glen has the opportunity to use their individual giftings as part of an astonishing mosaic designed by our Creator—all for His glory. And what a blessing that is!
We look ahead to countless ordained moments this summer where we can serve God by serving others. The same is true for you, wherever you are. We’re praying for you in the challenges you face. That you would see the moments the Lord places before you, take them with gratitude, and use your gifts—by His power—to bring glory to God.
Please Keep Us in Prayer
As we step into this summer season, we ask for your prayers.
- Pray for our staff—that they may see every moment for what it is.
- That they may fly on wings like eagles and be refreshed by the living water.
- That they may trust their training and trust the Holy Spirit to guide them through each day.
We are expecting to serve nearly 7,300 people this summer through our retreat groups, Day Camp, and our brand-new overnight camp, Ignite.
Each of those beloved souls will encounter our staff—and when they do, we pray they encounter the love of Christ. For many, it will be the very first time.

Spring Recap: A Season of Blessings
As we move forward into summer, we’re also reflecting on the blessings of spring. Amid the whimsical birdsongs and vibrant blossoms, we had the joy of serving 485 people at Family Fun Fest—a time full of cherished memories and heartfelt conversations. We also welcomed schools for our Outdoor Education program, where we had the privilege of teaching boys and girls about God’s magnificent creation and inspiring them to explore their own passions.
A special shoutout to the SHSU Ultimate team, who volunteered a Saturday to help with extensive work projects—we’re incredibly grateful!
